Feeding the cats is just one task here at PAWSAWYLE. There are many other aspects in the cat rescue world. Cleaning, grooming, veterinary care, home checking, visiting stray cats etc. are just a few jobs to be done. But one of the most important jobs is the fundraising, which we find hard work and time consuming. Of course, we would rather put all our energy into the cats' welfare, but we need money to do it.

We run a few Coffee Mornings a year; some at the Avenue Methodist Hall in Minehead, and some at the Red Cross Centre in Williton. Sadly, the Red Cross Centre will be pulled down later this year so a new venue will have to be found. We are lucky enough to have some great people who man stalls for us at these events.

Donations are another source of income. But the best way to keep PAWSAWYLE going is by sponsorship. We have a handful of kind people who sponsor the long-stay cats - usually monthly by Standing Order - amounts ranging from £5 - £20 a month. In return for this, we send a photograph and write-up of different cats being helped by the sponsorship scheme every March and September. This ensures that all the cats get everything they need.

There are no wages to pay here. Roy and Ruth give their time and effort freely. Our expenses include veterinary bills (which are usually large), cat litter, food and disposal of the used litter. We do take a small amount for telephone calls as our bills are high and the majority of calls made are cat-related. To find out more about this scheme, please ring Roy or Ruth.
